The 15th Annual California Coast Classic Bike Tour Takes Off This Saturday!
Celebrating its 15th consecutive year, the Arthritis Foundation’s California Coast Classic Bike Tour will kick off this Saturday, September 26, 2015 from the renowned Pier 39 at the Hard Rock Cafe in San Francisco. The event concludes on Saturday, October 3, 2015 in Los Angeles.The “CCC”, as it is affectionately known, takes place over 8 days and covers 525 picturesque miles of the California coastline. Approximately 300 riders from across the nation will take the “ride of a lifetime” down legendary Highway 1, making overnight stops along the way in Santa Cruz, Monterey, Big Sur, Cambria, Pismo Beach, Buellton, Ventura and finally concluding in Los Angeles.
CCC cyclists each raise a minimum of $3,100 to participate in the event, with many exceeding their goal, helping to make this sold out tour one of the largest fundraising event for the Arthritis Foundation nationwide. At every overnight campsite, the CCC Bike Tour honors children and adults living with arthritis. These individuals are given the opportunity to share their story about living with arthritis. Riders often remark that they signed up for the tour for the epic cycling experience, but after hearing from the honorees they leave the tour with a passion to continue to help those living with arthritis. Typically over 65% of our riders are veterans and continue coming back year after year to support the mission of the Arthritis Foundation.
“The Arthritis Foundation is committed to conquering everyday battles through life-changing information, vital resources and advancements in science,” says Manuel Loya, Chief Executive Officer of the Arthritis Foundation, Pacific Region who organizes the California Coast Classic Bike Tour. “The CCC helps to raise much needed funding to provide research grants, scholarships for families attending the National Juvenile Arthritis Conference, support JA Camps and other activities provided by the Arthritis Foundation. These riders are true Champions of Yes, and we are so proud of the success of this incredible event.”
